ALYOF Dec goal complete!

I was trying to be not too hard on myself by finishing the Classic version of my Acacia quilt.

I did it!  It still needs a washing, but the washer isn't free yet.

Classic done!

I also finished the Modern version:

modern done!

Not sure which one I like best.  I may wait for a verdict for post washing.  Linking up!

Also, my class play is mostly done.  I have dancing ninjas, fairies, etc.  So much fun!  I still have to decide on a magic object.  One that can be carried.  Any suggestions welcome.

ALYOF Dec goal

I'm going to make my goal to finish my Classic Acacia quilt.

Classic Mod Sept blocks

Classic block on the left.  Modern on the right.  I'll have 12 of each when I'm done with Dec's blocks.  I'm thinking 2 smaller quilts.  Maybe for babies/small people.

Ideally, I'll finish both quilts, but I'm not going to make myself crazy, since I also have two more swap items to finish in there and a play to write for my class.

ALYOF Nov finish

I set as my November goal finishing my Starbright top.

Well, it was a bear, but, not only did I finish assembling the top, but I also basted, quilted, and bound it!

Part of the frustration was my spatial stuff.  I get spatial positioning reversed A LOT, and the seam ripper and I were friends.  Enough so, that I think I need to ask Santa for a new one.  My old ones are kind of dull.

The other problem was my walking foot.  It started sticking.  I should note that I've actually worn out one foot.  Part of the problem on this was that, I think, it needed oiling.  Add to that problem that I hit the needle position dial at some point (a while ago), and shifted the needle too far over to the right.  This has led to a bur or two on some feet.  Duh that I didn't realize it.  Duh that I took the machine in for servicing because I couldn't figure that one out.  Oh well.  It's clean now and working well.  I need to replace a few feet, though.

Guess it's a good thing Christmas is coming.

Anyway, TA DA...... the quilt!

I've finished a bunch of projects this month.

I completed my Donut quilt:

I ended up making my silence block into a mini rather than a journal, as the block was bigger than I thought it was going to be:

That got added to the package for my #makeadalekmakeafriend swap.  BEST. SWAP. EVER.

and got this:

So. LOVE.

I also finished my mini for the Dec guild swap:

a laptop sleeve for my hub's ginormous work laptop:

ALYOF Nov Goal

Time to set a goal for November.  I want to finish my Starbright top.

Starbright 1

It's actually further along than this.  I have about 5 out of 8 sections done.

Ideally, I would also baste, quilt, and bind it, but I'm just putting the top assembly on my list.  I'm slow at it.  I've had to seam rip a bunch of times.  I'm afraid if I don't finish it this month, it will end up on my WIP pile.

Linking up!

Bloggers Quilt Festival....Emerged

AmysCreativeSide.com

Every year, Amy at Amy's Creative Side hosts a Bloggers' Quilt Festival.  This year, I finally got my act together and am entering two.  I picked two of my most recent finishes.  While I'm super proud of my Heal Circle quilt, it was collaborative, and I wasn't sure where to enter it.

So, instead, I picked a throw quilt sized quilt from my Angled Class with Rachel over at Stitched in Color.  She does amazing online classes, and I always learn buckets from her!

This one is Emerged.

Emerge quilt

I have attempted a Lone Star before, but it was itty bitty (and still unfinished) and used interfacing to make it easier.  Maybe because the diamonds were biggerI had no problems with this one.  The biggest challenge was applique-ing it on to the background.  Much blood was spilled.
I used some of my precious hoarded Nummer for this one.  (Still sad it seems to be discontinued.)

Emerge quilt

I did a simple echo quilt on this background.  I wanted to keep it soft and floppy rather than doing intense quilting.  This is going to be one of my go to hang out quilts for the winter.  I'm not usually a pink girl, but these make me happy.  I used simple black binding for the edging.

If you are visiting for the first time, I hope you'll come back and visit again. If you are a regular, thank you for taking the time to keep reading!

Bloggers Quilt Festival....Catnap Blanket

AmysCreativeSide.com
A couple times a year, Amy over at Amy's Creative Side hosts a Blogger's Quilt Festival.  Every year, I debate whether or not to post.  This year, I am!  I'm entering this one in the Handquilted category.

Indian Blanket quilt

This quilt is one of my all time favorites.

Not only does it feature Lizzy House's Catnap (and she's one of my all time favorite designers), there is something enticing to me about the color combination.

Indian Blanket quilt

The design is Rachel's from Stitched in Color.  I'm taking her Angled class.  I'm getting comfy with triangles.  I definitely see more in my future.

I hand quilted this in perle, trying to find colors that blended (without vanishing) into the fabrics.
Indian Blanket quilt

It's approximately 64"x70".

If you want to check out other quilts, or enter your own, you've got until Oct 31 to do so!

A Bunch of finishes....

If you follow me regularly, you might notice that I keep a tally running on the bar on the right with my Finish Along list.  I've been ticking off the ones that I get done, mostly do I can keep track of how many I still have left to go.

Currently in progress:
Starbright 1
Donut quilt top
Star Wars items

I hope to have these mostly done by Monday.

Here's what I've been up to in Oct.  (I had two days off of work in there.)
