Going to go for Starlight #2, since it's a present.
It needs basting, quilting, and binding. We'll see....I have an INSANE list this FAL quarter.
FAL Quarter 1 2014 updates and finishes!
Here my finish tally and what I didn't get done.
Honestly, I thought I'd get a lot more done, but I'm now on my 2nd round of antibiotics and still haven't kicked whatever is lingering.
Add to that a class play, admissions, and my parents coming to visit, and I guess I should be glad of what I actually got done.
My original list was posted here.
Here are my finishes and non-finishes:
Sewing Items:
1. Hexy MF--still need to applique and send it off to a long-armer. This round DEFINITELY.
2. Marcelle Medallion--little progress. I'm trying to get my first layer of borders on by this weekend.
3. Mad's quilt--done! I'll do a separate post on this one later.
4. Red/Purple quilt--I started quilting it. I may finish, but the ick is making me not feeling like wrestling with this one. It may roll over.
5. Tear Drop quilt--Haven't touched this one.
6. Hexy Diamonds--It got bigger, but it's still not done.
7. Converging Corners--Still sitting in a bag. Meh.
8. Retro Rubies--Thank the gods. Done.
9. Sidekick bag--still in pieces
10. Meridian #2--still in pieces
11. Economy Block--done! Love this one.
12. Feathers QAL--done! Backed this one in a fleece blanket. My go-to snooze quilt.
Knitting Items
1. Red Collar--done!
2. Mardi Gras scarf--done!
3. Earthy Scarf--done!
4. Peacock mittens--untouched
5. Sherbet shawl--knitted a bit on, then stuffed it somewhere.
6. pink cinnabar and spice sweater--untouched

9. Purpley scarf--done!
10. Fingerless gloves--done!
11. Tutti Frutti socks--untouched

March ALYOF Update
It's time to link up!
I finished my goal for March!
Honestly, I couldn't be more glad that it's done.
This one was really hard to finish. I didn't love making it.
This one has sat incomplete for a LONG LONG time.
In fact, I think I only have one other UFO that is this old.
But it's done. Forgive the crummy indoor pics. (I have been writing all day and working on hand quilting.) I have to find a home for this guy. This summer is going to involve some quilt clearing. I'm not sure if I'll try to sell some locally, but my husband is getting tired of my stacks, I think.
I'm still not 100% from bronchitis and a sinus infection side lining me about a week ago. I'm slowing getting back into sewing. Odds are good my FAL list of completes is going to be smaller than I planned...which hasn't stopped me from starting a few new projects. I put together this top.
It's my second one for Melissa's Starlight Starbright Quilt Along. This one will be made into a top for a teacher friend who is retiring this year. My value balance isn't perfect, but it will work. It's going to be living on a boat!
I'm a huge fan of Botanics and Architextures. So much fun playing with these.

missing my sew-jo
But at least now I kind of know why.
I've been sick for two weeks. My parents came to visit last week. I lost my smart key. (MAJOR BUMMER, $$$) I haven't been sewing much. Broke a walking foot. Felt badly about dragging everything out of where I had stuffed it for the parental visit. Yesterday, the coughing jags started. No amount of steam was fixing it.
I finally dragged myself to the clinic after work.
Blarg.
Bronchitis.
Sinus Infection.
Fluid in one ear.
Antibiotics.
Cough meds.
A puffer (that one is new. haven't ever had one before.)
I slept a lot after.
I still have to go in to hand out a math test tomorrow.
Then home to sleep again.
Blarg.
I'm looking forward to feeling well. Soon. Being able to breathe. Having my sew-jo back.

ALYOF March goal...
I've been a blog slacker lately.
In part because I've been trying to clean and clear up scraps.
*sigh* I don't feel like I've been completely successful with either. My walking foot is acting up, so I've ordered another one. I haven't touched my Crazy/Twisted section yet.
My folks are coming for a visit next week so this week will be filled with frantic cleaning. I'd much rather be sewing. But I'm going to have to hide most of my sewing stuff. Is it wrong that I've started a list of projects I want to sew at Stash Bash? Is a list of ten too much?
I'm dancing a bit more, but I've also not been stellar in my eating habits.
On the up side, I'm going to be subbing for my teacher in a few weeks. That's kind of exciting. Plus, now I can't stop dancing or leading a class for an hour and fifteen will be embarrassing.
Ok...enough kvetching. My goal for March.
So, I'm keeping it low key. I've got my Retro Rubies almost done. It just needs binding and burying threads. I kind of hate this quilt. I'm finding that some of my long standing FAL projects are there just because I wasn't having fun doing them. I really didn't have fun with this one. For some reason, the piecing was a struggle (and I've done curves before and liked them). Because I didn't have any extra, I had to use some of the wonkier bits. When I was quilting it, I shattered two needles. (Turns out that was probably when the walking foot started failing.) The thread kept breaking. I just wanted to get it done. I've cut the binding, but I haven't even sewn the pieces together or ironed it. Y'all, that's not like me. So, I'm putting this on the March list so I'm not tempting to bury it and give up on it.
I don't have a more recent pic on flickr. So, this one will have to do.
If you follow me on IG, you've seen the progress. Hopefully I'll get it done in the next week. Then, I just have to figure out what to do with it because I am not feeling a strong desire to keep this one. (Also odd for me.)

Belated finish pics and a Fabriholics update
I had envied some Atlantans (Allegory mainly) taking these lovely snow pictures during the first storm. See, I didn't think about it.
Lucky for me it stormed again, right? (cough)
I hauled myself out on the ice and took some pics of finished quilts.
First up, the Feathers quilt.
I love this one. Love it hard.
I backed it in a fleece blanket, no batting. This is my favorite all time quilt for the sofa and tv watching. It's so fuzzy.
I'm trying so hard not to buy more Field Study. The leopard is killing me. Want. More.
That quilt is the product of a QAL. I'm actually thinking of making a version 2. I have a bundle in mind. I have a second fleece blankie that needs using.

Okay, now the fabriholics update.
I've been pretty good. I did cave and buy 2 FQs and a yard and a quarter of solids for a bag for the Color Intensive Workshop class's bag. I also bought 3 FQs in low volumes for bee blocks. Turns out I had pretty much killed my supply of those, too.
Ok, before the "I've tripped off the wagon" bit, I started the 17 day diet again. I did it two summers ago and lost like 25 pounds. I've been eating crap since Christmas. After the Class Play anxiety/ClusterFlake of 2014 resulted in me mainlining chocolate and candy, I realized that I not only feel like crap, my knee is acting up again, and I've gained back 7 lbs I had lost. Nope. Not doing that again. Especially not setting myself up for knee surgery in the future. Because of the knee, I'm trying to be a bit more mindful in reupping my physical activity. I'm wearing my fitbit and trying to add in more each day. I want to return to Zumba. I started dancing again last week. I need a plan...and probably a reward system that doesn't involve food. So, it may be fabric. (I'm pondering a punch card for the gym...like when I fill a card, I get a 1/2 yard or something...)
Anway, if you read this far, here's where I was bad on fabric. I got some destashed out of print Tula. I did keep myself on a strict budget, though. $20 with shipping included. I so wanted more.
I may treat myself with some shot cottons after finish Mad's quilt, the red/purple one, and retro rubies. I've started trying to clear the scrap bin with some present piecing. I do like "making" scrap based fabric. The bin doesn't look much smaller, though. My reality is that this weekend is going to involve some MAJOR cleaning, as I have to clear out the guest room to make it ready for a replacement mattress. My folks are coming in March and the current mattress is terrible. (I tried to sleep on it when I had a really bad cough a few months ago and the floor would have been softer.) Anyway, confession over.
New goals for the next week and a half:
Piece Mad's top, piece red/purple top (same game plan of layout), finish the applique on the Hexy MF, mail international bee blocks, catch up on some qals, scrap sew! Baste a bunch for quilting (Mad's, Red/purple, Retro Rubies).
We'll see how it goes. Wish me luck!

Icy in Atlanta?!
I'm pretty much trapped at home right now.
School is out for at least one more day.
I know some of y'all on IG and that follow me here have heard mecomplain hyperventilate over my class play. Well, I totally lucked out.
See, it was supposed to be last night and this morning. And, well, this morning is when the ice kicked in.
Thankfully, I was able (with the help of my boss and the lovely lovely maintenance peeps at school and the kids who were ready to go!) to move it up a day. So, we did the show for kids in the morning yesterday and the show for the parents last night. Phew. Just in under the wire. The kids were rock stars. My set is still sitting in the theatre. Not sure when I'll be breaking it down yet. My (frozen) car is full of props and costumery. Such a relief, though, to have it done and not to have to worry if we can reschedule....or to worry if everyone was going to be able to get home safely. Thank you, weather gods, for keeping it rain until the wee hours.
I was so full of plans for my day off today. Sleep was priority #1. However, my cat decided I only needed an extra half hour before she started throwing things and walking on me.
I had elaborate sewing plans, but they kind of fizzled. I decided I'm not allowed to start anything new until I clear out at least one UFO. I worked on that a bit, pieced most of a back for it. I have to cut more pieces (and that requires a template), so I'm not doing it right now. Also, I had to move my machine back to the dining room (which is cold) because the hubs is telecommuting and answering calls. I'm not good at being quiet. We've already discussed that him planning on working at home when I'm at home is probably NOT a good plan. (I will go nuts with having to be silent that long.)
So, right now I'm enjoying the computer (and that I have power still) and snuggling with quilts and pets. Maybe I'll have more of a finish to share tomorrow....pray I keep the power!
