I'm giving away a pouch! It will be custom made for you in your favorite color.
pouches for the Mrs Smiths
Note: It's not going to be one of these pouches, but you can get the idea of what I mean by the picture....


The giveaway closes at 5pm PST on Dec 16.
You don't have to be a follower!
I would love to have you join if you are so inclined, but no pressure.
(Although, *cough* I'm planning another give away when I hit the 100 follower mark.)

    It would be fun to have one of your pouches, Ella! I'm off to read what you wrote about your new pillow! And I've never hand-quilted an entire quilt, but I would imagine that if you use the delicate cycle, it should be fine. Just make sure your ends are firmly secured!

    Oh, and the quilt? My mom used to wash hers on gentle in the huge laundromat machines so there was enough room.

    My favorite Christmas song is WHite Christmas. There are several quilt care soaps available to wash your quilt with and I would use several color catchers in the wash.

    Lemme think - favourite song? Well, at the moment I have "Fire is low" from freshlyground in my head. They did the Soccer World Cup theme song with Shakira, but are fatastic musicians on their own (a local South African band). If you can get your mitts on a cd, I would recommend them for sure. Great music to craft to.

    Uber cute and useful pouches. Purple is my favorite color but I think I would love a pouch in either yellow or orange. They're so cheerful.
    If I had to choose 1 song, I guess I would go with 'On Your Porch' by The Format. That's a really hard question though.

    I'm a hand-quilter, and I usually put them in the tub (scrub it first - ewww) and add water and a liquid detergent. Agitate it and then drain/fill with cold water to rinse.
    The hard part is to dry it. I take it to the laundromat in a thick garbage bag, cos they have this thing that spins most of the water out, without moving it around much at all.
    Then it doesn't weigh so much, and I actually do hang it on the line. (Gasp) Works for me!

    Ooh,I love the idea of the winner choosing the colors! I'd pick orange. Favorite song might be Perhaps Love by John Denver and Placido Domingo since my dad used to play it for me as a kid.

    I would use a quilting wash soap (from a quilt shop) and a large machine (if the quilt is big) on gentle cycle w/ the color guard strips.

    As for washing quilts, I can't be too helpful, but I used to wash my bathing suits in Zero by hand and hang them to dry and I think that extended their life... maybe it works for quilts?

    Those are great! I love the purple ones, but I'm an orange/peach kinda gal. ;)
    I wish I had a tip on washing hand quilted quilts, but I definitely don't. I have an old one (MIL's gma, I think) hanging on the wall that needs a wash, but I'm scared!
